History

The Dora family has been a part of hotel and restaurant management across the country since 1958, when Robert E. Dora converted a show horse stable and opened the Covered Wagon Lodge in Vincennes, Indiana.  His son and current company CEO, Robert W. Dora, remembers working at the Covered Wagon on Friday nights as a boy, earning .50--and being able to purchase a movie, popcorn, and a Coke with his earnings!

The very first Holiday Inn in Indiana was opened by Robert E. Dora in 1964, in Terre Haute.  Since then, the Doras have developed, opened, and/or managed over 50 hotels in the last 40 years.

Today, Dora Hospitality is a third generation, family-owned management group.  Robert E Dora’s son, Robert W. Dora, is currently the company CEO.  During his tenure, the company has developed over 30 properties from the ground up. His son, Vincent J. Dora, has recently taken over the role of President, and handles the daily operations of the business.  It is under this leadership that Dora Hospitality continues to advance the Dora family legacy of operating outstanding hotels.
